Arrow Comparing Speakers.. Alpine vs. Infinity

I am looking at getting speakers for my Jeep. I was looking at Alpine (SPS - 600) vs. Infinity (REF60221)

Ohhh and I picked up 2 new HU.. I picked up 2 new Alpine 9886 HU.. Here is a little story

So I found the HU that I wanted, had the girl check if it was in stock. It was in stock, but as an opened item

So I had her look up other BestBuys in the area to see if they had them new and in stock. She got the SKU number checked out other stores. There was another BB about 15 miles from the location where I was that had 3 of them in stock. What she failed to mention, and what I saw on the computer screen was the current sale price at every BB that was selling that particular HU.

So the open item HU was marked at $219.99. The other location had the same unit, brand new in the box for $165.99. She had called her manager, manager came over and said that they can give me the open item for the $165.99 price... I said no thanks, I am on my way to that location and buying it.

So I went there and came home with 2 Alpine HU.. Model #9886.. Bought one for my Jeep and one for my Trans Am

I bought my Camaro about a month and a half ago and the guy who had it before me put Infinity speakers in the doors and trunk area. In my Monte Carlo, I had Alpine Type R. I would have to say the Alpine was by far wayy better even though I did have an amp running to them.

I run kappa's in my camaro and my grand prix. Everything powered off an amp and they both sound great. I have no complaints on the sound.

I have a 9886 head unit. I would go back with a Pioneer next time though. The 9886 is good but I think there is alot left to be desired in the tuning of sounds. I loved my pioneer. Wish it wouldn't have took a crap on me after 3 years or I would have gotten another one.

Alpine all the way. I personally like to keep everything one brand as much as possible.

myself, i'd go with infinity, mainly because of the tweeters (at least in the kappas), to me they don't have a 'tinny' sound, they're more smooth.

but alpine is good too, just a matter of what sounds best to you.

i need to install mine one of these days.

Good pick on the 9886...love mine. I would go with Alpine speakers. I had Infinity's in my van before I got the Camaro and they sounded nice but only at low volumes...they would crackle and distort when I turned the music up and I just didn't feel like they were quality pieces. Every Alpine speaker and sub I have heard sounded very nice, but after getting all Memphis speakers in my car I will never go with anything else. I'm a bit of an audiophile and my memphis car speakers sound better than anything else I have to listen to music through lol.
