Default Q about using Ipad instead of double din.

If I want to use a I pad instead of a head unit, and run the subs and speakers off a 5 ch amp.

How do I connect the Ipad's audio port (aux or the Ipod output cable) to the amp?

Thanks.

I seriously doubt anyone on here has done this before. None the less, I don't know of anyway to get a preamp output out of a device like an ipod or ipad to get to the amp where it can translate it to the speakers. If you use a headphone convertor to RCA it will sound like crap as it is already amplified signal going to an amp. Plus how do you plan on mounting the sucker as it is much bigger then the double din location?

you could do it with the headphone output and go mini to rca. but the sound quality wont be there. put the H.U. in the glove box and run an aux cable off the ipad and mount the ipad in the dash. did this for a cust. and it sounded kick *** and he controls it all from the i pad

I found a that shows that I 'd need an EQ and an adapter that goes from Ipad to the EQ. So the flow 'd be IPad ->Adapter->Eq->5ch amp->sub/speakers.

I'd have to modify the bezel to fit any regular old dd hu, so i figure why not relocate the hvac controls and do something a lil' unique.
Plus the Ipad can be used outside car too.

That's another interesting, I gotta test fit my 1din in my glove box.
I'm guessing I'd have to turn on the HU everytime, otherwise the static signal from aux input be always on?

Thanks for input so far guys.
