Default 6LiterEater 2 DIN bezel, just arrived.

So I just got my 2 DIN custom bezel for my 2000 trans am today in the mail. I think it took about 3 weeks total for it to get here, which isn't bad considering they're not just sitting on shelves waiting to be shipped out, but instead custom made per order which is my understanding. The version I got was the vinyl finish which is MUCH better matching the dash than the stock bezel. It looks great I was verry happy with it, just sucks I have to wait for my Kenwood ddx616 to arrive. Now $150 isn't too bad for a custom made bezel although underneath some of the corners that are facing away from the driver and passenger's view the vinyl doesn't completely cover the inside corners, but you could NEVER tell from looking at it at a normal position in the car, nothing to be worried about. As of now I'm in no condition to take pictures of it for certain reasons mostly due to me being too tired and about to take a trip to NYC tomorow(techincally later today) from the Philadelphia area. I will post pictures shortly and Ill post pictures of my installation process when I get the head unit.

I received mine a couple of weeks ago. I agree, it looks much better than the stock bezel. Unfortunately, the cutout is too large for the radio face. There is a 1/4" gap all the way around. I figure I'll peel back the vinyl around the opening and glue it back down over the flat bezel that came with the head unit so that it closes up the unwanted gap. Does yours have a gap too?

What radio do you have? The opening should be 3-7/8" X 6-7/8" which is the standard DD radio size. Some companies like pioneer make the radio smaller but they include a trim ring to make up the difference.

If you want to make sure the opening fits tight against the unit specify what the dimensions are for the face of the radio when you order it. Otherwise the standard opening will be used. Ill see if I can get you a pic ASAP

Here are pictures I just took, still waiting for the head unit. Im in PA and it shipped priority from Georgia on friday I believe. I should get it tomorow or wednesday at the latest. And yes I hate waiting for things in the mail. I'm probably the most impatient person alive. Oh yea the pictures:

It's a Kenwood DNX-5120. It fits fine with the modified stock bezel I bought a couple of years ago but I wanted to upgrade the look with the vinyl wrap.

I bought a double DIN head unit a couple of years ago (a Pioneer AVIC-D3) and got a prototype bezel from a former member of this forum who wanted to start selling them. After a couple of months I sold the Pioneer and bought the Kenwood for a variety of reasons but mostly because it had better Sirius support and Garmin-based GPS. That prototype plastic bezel fit fine with both HUs but the workmanship isn't great so I ordered one of the vinyl covered bezels from 6litereater. The workmanship is very good and the vinyl looks much better than the plain plastic but the opening seems just a little too big.

I have a kenwood DNX-5120 as well. Since these bezels are made to order can they cut down the opening to fit my DD? Whitebird do you have a pic of how wide the gap is so I can get an idea?

I measured the face - it is 6-5/8" wide by 3-3/4" tall. The opening in the new bezel is 7" by 4". The 1/8" top and bottom is visible but not a problem. The almost 1/4" gap on each side is definitely noticeable.

I have been discussing with camaroboricua and he's going to help with it.

I just got my DNX616 in the mail today, had it installed in about 2 hours, mic and everything. It's not permanent fitted yet and Ill have piictures up soon I need to take a couple more. It was real easy except it didn't fit because the plastic piece that seperates the climate controls and monsoon stereo was keeping me from fitting the new DNX616 in, it was too long height wise. I had to cut it out, but it looks awesome even though things are in 100% securely although things are pretty secure for a temporary setup.

If you specify the dimension of your unit when you order, it will be made to that size. Otherwise the standard 4"x7" opening will be used. This is the size used on the radio install I posted.

Thats almost the same size as the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD. The opening was 6.75"x 3.75". I wish these companies would stick to one size...

yeah thatll happen when companies start making parts that interchange with other manufacturers instead of having to buy their own products that only fit their products.

*anyway Im in the process of trying to make brackets to attach the head unit permanently with screws, but Im having a hard time trying to get measurements correct. Not sure if anyone has advice on how to do this.
