Default Antenna problem

The antenna on my T/A seems to get stuck sometimes. The Motor still works fine but it won't come down. After a couple of weeks it decides to work again. Any ideas? i got tired of it so yesterday it started working again and while it was down i unpluged it just got tired of fighting it.

The mast is probably gummed up with road grime - a common problem. Extend the antenna all the way and then thoroughly clean the mast with mineral spirits. That should solve the sticking.

just clean the outside of the mast?

Mine got stuck about half way, I can still hear the motor trying to go up and down, but doesn't move at all. I think I can extend the antenae all the way up, just not down.

Well, mineral spirits as well as a light coat of lube is a no go for me. I think the mast strap is broken. Guess it's time for a new motor

it's from the paint on the mast. You have to use 100% mineral spirits to dissolve the gummed up paint and cycle the antenna a couple of times. If that doesn't work, you can just replace the mast only. The motor is probably fine.

I got mad at mine and took it out. Got a amped rubber antenna. I think it looks ok, but glad I don't have to mess with the power one anymore. plus weight reduction! haha
