Do I have Monsoon system?
Do I have Monsoon system? I've always assumed that with the headunit that reads "Monsoon" on it, I had the Monsoon system. But when I was doing suspension, I found that the rear speakers say 4 ohm on the back of the magnet, and appear to only be about a 6" round speaker, not a 6x9 like the speaker cover appears to be. I also found that there was a lot of extra wire with a factory looking connector on the driver side, like would go to a factory amp, but an amp was nowhere to be find. So do I have the Monsoon system that somebody has messed with, or is it a non-Monsoon system?

You didn't mention what year or model car you have.
The Monsoon system was available in F-bodies between 1997 and 2002. The option codes for Firebird coupes were W54 (cassette) and W55 (CD). Firebird convertibles had option code X20. For Camaros, the Monsoon option code was UZ7 in coupes and U59 in convertibles.
You can normally tell if a coupe came with Monsoon by the presence of speakers in the hatch area. The base audio system didn't include hatch area speakers, the Monsoon include 4" round speakers there (plus tweeters in Firebirds). In your case, 6" speakers there could have been replacements for the factory 4" or they could have been add-ons installed by a previous owner. I know the grille looks like it's for 6x9 speakers but that's just styling - oval speakers were never used in these cars (thank goodness).

nvm, yeah I just read the sticky after I posted the thread. I thought all speakers were 2 ohm but then read that's just for the speakers in the sail panels. It is a 2002 Z28 coupe. They must have been the 4" then, it was a small round speaker, and there looked to be a spot for a speaker next to it as well, I guess for the tweeters in Firebirds. The speaker did saw Delco on it, must have been all the stock stuff then.
