what is all this mess? (speaker wiring)
what is all this mess? (speaker wiring) So i'm starting to prepare my new install: 6.5 in the doors and 6.5 in the panels (no speakers are gonna be in the hatch area) powered by an amp. Anyway i decided to get rid of the speakers that are already installed because i'm gonna run completely new wires. anyway. So here's what i discovered:
This was hooked up to a sub/amp combo that came with the car.
This runs to the driver side speaker in the hatch.
This runs to the passenger side speaker in the hatch.
My question is, since i'm running brand new wires do i need to salvage any of this or can i just get rid of them all the way to the source?
Also, i found this while i was back there:
What is this for? Is it something i need to keep?

ok, so let me get this straight. with the new speakers, run all the new wire directly to the amp. then hook up the battery wire of course, hook up the remote wire, then 2 rca cables to the back of the hu? is that all that is required?

3. Theres more to it but lets tackle this first...
Since it's an aftermarket headunit, correct. Run each speaker on each amp channel and connect the set of RCA's to the headunit along with the remote wire. If the 4-channel amp is older, I would test each channel before running all the wire just to make sure it works.
