Default Relocating head unit?

So im thinking about relocating my headunit so i can put my aftermarket gauges in a plate i made where my stock radio goes. I was planning on putting the headunit in the a/c vents above the stock location, i dont have A/C so it doesnt matter about vents and stuff.

how hard do all yall esperienced audio people think it woul dbe to do this?

idk how you'd go about doing this, there really aren't any mounting points you could use in the dash itself. why don't you just put gauges where the ac vents are?

I agree with post above but if you really want you can make your own mounting points.

This is what I 'd do If I wanted to put gauges in the AC vents.

Im trying to put my tach where the stock radio goes. Most stock tachs are bad, but mine was showing me 6100 rpms when i was bouncing off the rev limiter @ 7K and it was doing it in every gear and i got really sick of it cuz i do alot of roll racing and it was a total PITA.

i was thinking about just drilling into the vent holder to bolt it down. im about a week away from just pulling the radio out i think, most of the stock speakers are blown anyway and then i could just pull everything out save weight and solve a problem.

I also thought about just putting it in the glove box

I don't think I seen a tach small enough and useful that 'd fit in the ac vent.
Since your speakers don't work, might as well take the headunit and nonfunctional speakers out & put a tach there.

You could do it with a bit of cutting but not sure how you would properly secure it in the vents. Just go to a junkyard and practice on the pieces you would be cutting so you don't screw up your dash first and post up some results. Could turn out pretty good if executed right.
If you do it, post up how you secured it. I've thought about mounting a gps into one of the vents for a cleaner look but haven't been able to figure out a way to keep it in place while not making it look out of place.
