also I have just realixed something else....my car is a 96 and the engine i put in is a 95 lt1.I noticed on my 96 motor at the bottom of the front pulley their is a sensor there,i guess crank sensor or something, and on my new motor there is not.could this pose a problem?

Put down the wire cutters and step away from the car! Please read one of the many "howto" articles about VATS bypass. You need to unplug the connector at the base of the steering column to take the ignition cylinder (and key) out of the circuit. Then you need to apply the correct resistance between the purple/white and white/black wires. The resistors are used to connect the two wires together. If the two wires are connected in any other way except through the correct resistors, the VATS system won't recognize the correct value.

No, not with starting.

Ok well I put the resistors in like you said, and I checked the resistance on them before I put them in and I was right around 7.56.My key read 7.50 on my volt meter so i got enough resistors to make 7500 or close to it and still nothing.Just starts and dies everytime.

Is the security light still on or flashing? When the security light is on solid it means the VATS system sees resistance that doesn't match it's memory. When the security light is flashing it means the VATS system doesn't see a resistor at all (open circuit). If the security light is off then your starting problem is somewhere else besides VATS.

Also, if your key measured 7500 ohms (7.5K), it is VATS value number 13. The easiest way to get that total resistance using standard 10% resistors is to connect two 15,000 ohm (15K) resistors in parallel. That gives exactly 7500 ohms total resistance.

It doesn't matter. There is a greater selection of values for 5% resistors than for 10% but both types have a 15K size available.

I put it with a 5.6k,1.5k,and a 330 to get 7430 of resistance

Well, if you're still having problems, I would suggest trying a pair of 15K 1/4 watt resistors wired in parallel. That eliminates any possible problem with tolerances because it will be an exact match to the 7.5K required.

and my oil pressure switch is broken also, just kinda hanging there.I noticed it when I was putting the engine in but I was just gonna test fit everything and all but ended up starting it,so with this being broke and my gauge not showing any pressure, could that cause it do shut off??it's behind the manifold by the firewall.

I finally checked it with a scanner I was getting MAF sensor and crank sensor,so i plugged in the MAF and then cleared it out and I have yet to get another code. Not sure about the crank sensor and all cause I dont have a plug down by the pulley like the other engine did
