Default Corvette intercompatibility

So I was at my grandpa's house, and he has a 50th edition vette that I was looking at. I realize these cars have the ls1 like my 98 TA, so I'm curious, if I were to find a wrecked out vette, could I swap the gauge cluster over and have the 200mph speedo and retain functionality?
Assuming it would fit in my dash (my car is 500 miles away... can't check the fit), would I have to swap the PCM out of the vette I find too?
Furthermore, could I wire up the HUD off the vette, and mod my dash and get it to fit?

No the HUD isn't a simple retrofit project. It takes heavy modification, there's another way to do 200mph gauges though and have it calibrated so it works properly.

i believe 6LE still does 200mph speedo recalibration, just as an option...

I'm not worried about the modification, I'm worried about it functioning with PCM, or if I need to get the vette computer too?
Same goes with the gauge cluster? Also, does it fit in a firebird dash, and still look ... 'factory'?, or would it need heavy modification too?

Ik 6LE does a recal, but I think I could pick up a new cluster cheaper than he wants for it, and it would reflect my actual miles alot better than my factory cluster does (Thank you previous owner for not recal'ing after a gear swap... 30,000 extra miles.)

I'm aware of this method, I was just curious if the 'vette gauge cluster would fit/operate in a Trans Am?

HUD.... modification of the dash or what?

All the threads here on tech and google search point to a no for the HUD but im not sure about the gauges. Data from the pcm is read differently on a vette and translated to gauges as far as I know.

Well thats the problem, I couldn't find my question answered in any.
In my OP, I asked if I would need to get the PCM out of the vette to get the gauges and the HUD to work. Because if I got all three then it would just be a case of interior modification to make it look factory right?
Or would the vette PCM not function with a regular 98 Fbody engine? I've read people doing a 98 to 99 PCM swap, but I don't think I've come across a vette to fbody swap.

Yeah I haven't heard of any one doing this either. I don't think it's possible, the vette gauge cluster is sweet though.

There is an another option if you want to do HUD.

There's an app for itouch/iPhones that pulls data from the orb port via an adapter and dispays it on the itouch or phone. You can use that in combination with a pocket projector(size of a cell phone) to project whatever is on the itouch onto the windshield.
