Stealth Box I made
Stealth Box I made This is the stealth box I made for the back of my WS6. I wanted balance in my speakers, not mind blowing bass. I bought a Kicker comp 10" to use, and am powering it with an old kenwood amp rated around 200w. This improves the sound in my car 100% , does not rattle in or outside of car at regular listening levels. It doesnt really rattle anything if cranked up and balanced right, not a winner for the SPL by far, but for good sound quality on a budget. The hardest part was making the face panel to fit the space. Ended up with a nice and snug fitting piece. FYI I have a template of that said piece. Here's what I did.
1/2 sheet of MDF from scrap bin @ Home Improvement Store- $4
Tube of MDF Liquid Nails LN606 $3.50
5 Gallon Bucket. $2.50 (I used a pool Chemical bucket that I think is tougher.)
Round Terminal Connector $1.50
Kicker Comp 10 $45
Roll of Speaker wire $
Roll of Black Vinyl $10 per sq yd @ Hobby Store ( I had some)
Total Cost (Roughly) $56.50

Sound is better than I expected with all types of music. Hits good for the enclosure size and speaker/amp combo. Set the equalizer right and its just what I wanted.

The vinyl is to make it look better. Thats always good when they turn out sounding good, i know some of my friends have been hit and miss and where the sub goes is also going to help. I tend to think that these cars could hit good cause of the large trunk/hatch. Havent put in a sub yet though..

It's really not a waste of money since he had some of it sitting around, but it'd look kind of tacky if he just had the bare board in the back of the car. The vinyl helps the box blend in instead of stand out. "Stealth" doesn't mean it's invisible, just means it's not immediately noticeable.

Verdad Gallardo Yeah you pop the truck and someone see's a wood shop class its gunna look pretty funny. Easy fix to just put some vinyl over it and make it look like you bought that **** at least
I know this is old but I'm no expert in car audio. Does anyone know how the sound is with using a 5 gallon bucket? How does it compare to making the whole box out of mdf? Also, about how much cubic feet does it have? Thanks
