Default Did window motor, now I'm stumped

The driver window motor on my SS went out back in January, and just got around to changing it yesterday. My motor was not held in with rivets. It was held in with screw heads and nuts. I believe it is the stock motor in the door as all the records I have don't show anything about it ever being replaced. There were also NO holes drilled in the door.

Anyone have any ideas why my car is different than everyone else?

If the whole glass, and regulator assembly was removed it could have been replace that way without drilling...??

just like he says, if the regulator and motor were removed as one assembly, there would be no extra holes drilled. Being bolted in makes it seem that it has been worked on before.

worked at chevy dealer in the body shop 18 yrs and they definitely dont use bolts, they use a 1/4 inch aluminum rivet.

Correct. The motor was definitely replaced prior - most likely by someone other than a dealer.

What do the rivets look like holding the regulator to the door. Can you post a picture? (The regulator requires special rivets available from the dealer.)

If the person who riveted the regulator back in to the door used the wrong rivet, this can happen: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...-included.html

It was replaced before but not by a dealership. This is why they removed the whole assembly like they should have, but used nuts and bolts to attach the motor. No big deal unless the nuts and bolts started to come loose, which they can if not properly secured.

Thanks for all the input. This car is a mystery to me. When I went to get my windows tinted, the guy pointed out the over spray on the B pillar and windows. Said the car was most likely in an accident, just never claimed insurance so it had a clean car fax. It still runs like a champ and nothing wrong with it.
