So do radar detectors pick up radar and laser? Is there ever a time when they won't pick up when a cop is clocking?

Yeah they pick up both but laser is pretty much read instantly when your hit. There can be times when they don't pick up, usually with the cheap ones this happens.

I've got the Bel Vector 955. Its great except in the city picking up all the false signals. but I do mostly highway driving and in highway mode, I've picked up every cop running radar so far. Even gave me a little warning when a state trooper popped me. I wasn't speeding but i think i still had time. radarbusters.com rated it the best one under $200 so there ya go. Good luck man just don't think you're invincible.

Yes! One user on here, good deal haha. Yeah i read that from radarbusters and it sounded pretty legit.

Bobbyd, thanks for the heads up man just cant fork out that much. In the dallas classifieds you can find em as low as $250 also, but i don't got those ends yet. Just need something good for now, not planning on speeding all the time and being invincible but i decided if i get a ticket that would be pretty bad on my insurance so i need to get something at least.

I think tomorrow ill see if they'll go any lower on it, if not ill prob pick it up, see how i like it and keep it or sell it. Thanks alot guys, anyone else have anything good or bad to say about this device im all ears, hope yall stay ticket free

My buddys all run expensive radar detectors...I have a $60 cobra from best buy and it goes off all the same times that theres do as far as police radar, emergency vehicles, and lasers.

Theres go off for all sorts of dumb ****, and they get so annoyed many times they have to unplug them to keep their sanity.

The only things they have 1 up on me is a compass and tell you which direction the police are in...not a huge value IMO

bobbyd thanks for the link i went there and read up, good stuff! Master, i appreciate you trying to save me some $ haha, i've ran with cobra's before and i can say they are underpar with alot of other radar detectors for me. I don't know exactly where the line is, i think with any product there is the top of the line where you start spending more than what your getting, if i could i would just get the v1 because it is top and don't really care to find out considering 1 or 2 good tickets and i will pay for it easy in insurance. If it works for you thats great though, these things can get pretty damn pricy. I will let yall know what happens tomorrow, I will probably end up getting it i've decided but we'll see.

Well, i got it today and have been testing it out. I haven't had it long enough to say anything about it one way or another, but so far i think i will be happy with it. Right off the bat it picked up a motorcycle cop a ways away that i wouldnt have seen. I'll post up more after i've messed around with it some more. I need to get a mount for it, i want one that hangs off the rear view, but anything will work. For now, just sitting on the dash..

thought my beltronics was broken when i first got it. picked up a cop sitting off of the road, and it was going off for so long i thought it was broken. still wound up with a warning but still. learned to trust it. BTW it has a city mode to cut down on the false signals from doors and stuff.

Pish posh you guys can spend the big bucks on radar detectors, for that small percentage of time that my radar might not catch the 5-0...well...thats what the far right pedal is for, right?

jk...but only kinda

Yeah mine did too, that motorcycle cop was on there for forever! I quickly learned where the mute button was.
