DO NOT TRUST YOUR ESCORT 9500ix to pick up LASER

Laser Interceptor for the win. I run it on my G8. Read reviews... doesn't matter what gun, it will get JTG (jam to gun - meaning they will never, ever get a speed) performance every time. Well, in my case it will do that as long as they're in front of me as I only installed it on the front.
Don't get overly confident.....laser jammers are NEVER 100%.

I've got the Qi45 in my Impala SS w/jammers. It replaced my Vector Remote.
I love the Qi45 & it's performed well for me. I've gotten hit twice by laser with my eyes on the cop & one got the vehicle next to me, the other just stayed put. I was over both times.
Today, my Bel STi R Plus arrived & that's going in the CTS-V. I'll take the jammers off the Impala since it's not being driven at all anymore. Qi45 stays in it though.

I have the M80 Blinder and have seen it work 3 times. (Has a LED light that shows when its been activated). I usually don't leave it on all the time unless I know I will be doing an expedited run somewhere. One of the times I probably would have def. gotten pulled over, nothing crazy but def. over speed limit.

TRUE! 9500ix no worky w/laser - funny story
Pulled over by a trooper in upstate NY about 8 mos. ago - I knew his wife as a judge in my hometown, he pulled over myself and another stranger at same time - saw i was from said town - dropped his wife's name and friend who does jury duty in her court and he let me go with a "parking on side of highway ticket" I was doing 81 and so was the other stranger in front. 9500ix never picked him up and ticket said in notes "confirmed by laser"...... Fast fwd to today, pulled over again (NO ALERT) by same trooper, asked for my stuff and if my license was clean (it is). came back in about 1 minute and said where are you going - I "to hospital to work" (had my scrubs on, am an RN) I asked why he pulled me over, said got you at bottom of on ramp doing 81. I stated a truck had blown by me about 1/4 mi. back and he said "laser- you dont mess with those" I said "true, sir" and he let me go and said slow it down a bit... Thats it! I'm selling the 9500 on ebay / or getting jammers.... or trying a V1... any thoughts??? thx!! have had escort (an 8500 first) back for 5 or 6 yrs. plus..

I have an STi Driver that has saved my butt MANY times. Even so, I thought about upgrading a few months ago and bought a 9500ix....thinking that it would be the next greatest thing. In my experience with it over the next 2 weeks on the 2 hour daily commute, I learned that I could not trust it. Areas where I KNEW there was radar, were not detected (roadside residential areas). Other areas that had normally triggered my STI Driver, did nothing to the 9500ix. I even drove past a traffic cop on I-5 that was standing outside of his patrol car with a speed gun...again, the 9500ix remained quiet. It DID trigger in some instances over the 2 weeks that I had it in my car, and there were very few false triggers....but there were many "non-trigger" scenarios.
While I fully realize that the STiDriver is not the "best" on the market, it has proven itself MUCH more reliable...at least in my experience...than the 9500ix. Granted, there is no guarantee of ANY of these devices working all the time/every time.

Other than LIDAR (laser), police do not have any device that can "break through radar detectors". Even laser is detectable but the beam is so narrow and the trigger time is so short that detection is very difficult. Fortunately, LIDAR has it's shortcomings that have kept it from becoming more common... it is expensive compared to radar, it has to be used from a solid stationary position (no hand held or mobile dash mount), and it doesn't work well in inclement weather.
Radar will be around for some time because it is practical and only a very small percentage of drivers have detectors. Even though I never drive above the limit by enough to attract unwanted attention, I still have a radar detector as a reminder to keep an eye on my speed. It is very effective - letting me know of speed traps long before I can actually see them.

Mine works
My 9500ix detects laser. It makes a strange sound unlike the normal radar alert and you are in visual site of the officer when it goes off.
Anyone that has a detector that picks up laser should know to hit the brakes immediately so he can not get a lock, and hit them hard!
Mine has never failed to go off. Keep in mind sometimes a cop on the side of the road with a radar gun is on the Internet with his phone and not looking for speeders.

Holy resurrected thread Batman!
You must have absolutely amazing reflexes to be able to start braking before LIDAR (laser) can lock in your speed. Considering the LIDAR gun fires almost 400 pulses per second, it can not only get your speed but also double check with additional readings in less time than it takes a person to blink (less than half a second). Nobody but Superman or the Flash can even form the thought that they should start braking in that time let alone actually move their foot to the brake pedal and make any significant change in their speed.
Basically, if you're speeding significantly and your detector starts a laser alert, you should just pull over and wait for the ticket.

Don't mistake having a radar detector as a free pass to go double the speed limit. Too many people do that, go 100+ on the interstate then claim detectors don't work when they get pulled over. That said, my 9500ix saved me from a sure ticket AT LEAST 4 times.
Detectors are just an extra layer of security, not a guarantee.

Most of the lidar guns on the market get a speed reading in 0.2 - 0.3 seconds. When you hear the alert, react to it and start to remove your foot of the gas, speed is locked.....TOASTED!

All the cops around here only use laser any more. I really don't think radar detectors are that useful against laser.
And really I have a hard time buying the "it's saved me from so many tickets" anecdotes in here. How do you know?
I don't have any kind of detectors or jammers in my car. I've passed multiple cops going over the limit with the laser pointing right at me and more times than not I do not get pulled over.
If speeding is common where you live, you aren't always going to get a ticket even if they clock you.

Similarly, you don't know that the police you passed were clocking you since you don't have a detector. Speed detection devices are trigger controlled so even when pointed at traffic they may not be taking readings. And you don't know it was laser... in fact, if it was hand-held, it was most certainly not laser.
You're right that if you are speeding but not excessively compared to surrounding traffic and not driving aggressively then you would just be unlucky to get a ticket. As I've mentioned before, I have a detector mostly just to remind me to keep my speed reasonable. There have only been a couple of times where I had let my speed creep up and the detector allowed me time to slow down before passing the LEO. I don't know if I would have gotten a ticket but why push my luck? I'm sure many of the anecdotes are similar - the detector gave sufficient warning to avoid a possible ticket.
