The only reason I didn't get one was because a friend of mine gave me a used 10 SW610 the older version.
If I remember correctly, there are three different types of 10" Type R subs. If you haven't already, see which one will fit you best.

I've got an older setup, including a 10" Type-R, and for a 10" Sub it hits hard.
In my '95 Wrangler, I had 6.5" Pods Driver and Passenger side, Dual 6"x9" Speaker bar, and the 10" in a Ported Box sitting behind the passenger seat. The entire system was Type-R's and wasn't too expensive, but sounded great. Not only that, but these things held up to the weather: Rain, Snow, Salt, Sand. Dirty or Clean, they sounded great and have held up almost 7 years and have taken QUITE a beating.
However, since I'm in the market, I'm most likely switching to the CDT system for the Camaro. Seems pretty nice, but kinda pricey. Hopefully they sound better than the Alpines.
Alpine Type-R is a fine sub and does well. There is no question. The problem is that alot of people have never heard of the companies that make superior product because they are not at Best Buys and other box stores. Even alot of car audio shops won't carry them because the cheap stuff sells better to the masses.
Alpine Type-R will do just fine and provide good bass, especially from the trunk of an F-Body but it is by no means the "best" subwoofer made. If your using a gift card then I say buy it and run with it since someone else is paying for it or part of it. It will be fine and do exactly what you want it to.
