Default Sound Deadening Installation Question

I've seen some great threads here about sound deadening materials and installs. I have a question about installation on the sail panels:

Do you cut around the velcro that holds the interior sail panels secure? Or do you simply remove the velcro, lay down the mat, then put the velcro on top of sound deadening mat? I just want the plastic to be secure with no rattles, squeaks, or movement.

Thanks in advance to any of you who have some experience with this.

Ive installed mine behind the plastic, installed the plastic piece, stuck the velcro to the platiic then attached the sail panel to the velcro. Is this what you are asking? Mine works well.

So if you go around the velcro, will the sound deadening material (edead, dynamat, etc., not sure yet) be too thick for the velcro to stick? It just seems like every layer of sound deadening you add will make the plastic further from the velcro on the metal.

Valid point but I think you're thinking about it to much. I'll give it a shot tonight and see if it will fit in.

Really? The sail panels are held on with velcro?

WOW. Guess I shouldn't be surprised though.

Good to know for when I start doing this to mine in a few weeks.

Go with the edead. Its a hell of a lot cheaper and i have used close to 1000sq ft in numerous cars and would highly recommend it.

Tri_ws6 did you use edead 45 or edead 80? I was looking at this stuff last night. Only difference I can tell by the two is thickness

I was about to post the same question. I also have used some edead V3; how do they all work together best? Plus, do you have any experience with the teklite? It supposedly gets most of the road noise down, which is my goal.

Thanks again for all the input thus far.

Question:

Are you guys installing this to reduce road noise? Enhance audio in vehicle?

How much does this stuff weigh?

The only difference is the thickness. You can use them in conjunction with each other, all depends on budget and goals. The teklite is very nice. I use it mainly in doors in panels with a lot of space. Ill usually put a layer or so of edead then that over it for more noise cancellation. On flat areas i just use the edead.
