do us a favor if you can...
1 hook uo the autometer sender to stock gauge and take readings
2 then hoook up auto meter gauge quickly and see readings

compare the 2 and tell us if the stocker is accurate.......

ps: you dont have to install the gauge just run some wires to a battery and ground in your engine bay temporally then switch off to the factory wire near where it plugs into the sender ....(easiest way i can think of)

this would solve this issue for good.. im going to go ahead and buy an autometer sender and see what happens..

JPR, it is the sender that came with the Sport Comp 0-250 electric sweep gauge.[/QUOTE]

short sweep or long (full 180 deg. sweep)?

i already have the gauge installed so its not an issue.. the fact that my car is in pieces is... plus the goddamn adapter for the aftermarket temp sensor snapped off inside my head after about 4ft/lbs. .... when i get the new adapter and have my car runnning again then i can experiment

hey cueball has found a fix for the problem... heres his solution...

hay man whats up, sorry about that.
i did infact fix the problem.
its kinda involved, but not too hard.

i have to find the pics, and info on how to do it.
but i can tell you a little right now.

you have to buy a temp sensor from a 98 camaro/trans am, and replace the old sensor with the new, because you need a three terminal sensor and 99 and newer only have two terminals.
you hook the two stock wires to the same terminal, and hook up a pice of same guage wire about ten feet long to the remaining terminal.
now run that wire through the engine harnis and get the wire to the gauge cluster some how.
the rest i have to look up in my notes.

the adapter was screwed up cuz with the screw extractor it was only in there no more than 4ft/lbs.. so you gonna try the 98 sensor?
