backup camera install??
backup camera install?? I have a T/A and I was thinking about mounting a backup camera in the keyhole on the rear filler panel. I did a search and I saw pictures of it being done, so I know this is possible. However, I don't see any specs on what size camera I would need in order to avoid modifying the keyhole diameter size.
These are the two reverse cameras made for my head unit. Perhaps someone who has the same or similar camera can share some advice on the install process.

Any reverse camera will work with any headunit as long as it gives video through RCA. The way I have always seen done is by using a lipstick camera that actually slides into the keyhole. I did an F150 a couple year sago with an alpine camera in the keyhole and just mounted it from behind in the tailgate skin, but i cant speak to how that is still doing being that I no longer install since I graduated college. Hope that helps.

I've seen some universal camera's on eBay for $25. Is there a huge difference in quality of the cameras? B/C there is obviously a huge difference in price.

I used the license plate mount style, but i mounted to underside of the lip of the bumper in front of the plate instead of to the plate (where the plate light is). The car is in storage and I don't have pics right now.

I use Alpine HCE-104 on my other vehicles I believe. Good price, and looks almost the same. The Pioneer adds some extra features that you may or may not use. Do some reading on what that model can do.
My alpine just has video image. No lines, no zooming, no extras.
