Default Stock Monsoon Sub Problems

Well i have no idea what this problem is and will sound weird but i am confused on this. my stereo is all stock sounds actually pretty good for what it is anyways...randomly the subs stop working but everything else is fine then it will randomly come on again and be fine for a while. Theres prob some loose wire but i havent touched the wires so it doesnt make sense to me. another thing is the subs are actually playing but you can tell they arent getting the power they should be but once and a while they turn on like they are supposed to. You think my headunit coiuld be shot on that channel? its not the amp i have 2 of them and tried both and both are the exact same way. So any ideas would be helpful cause this is annoying and i dont really wanna rip all the wiring out

is the wiring inside the box tight? i'd check that before going through all the other wiring.

what box??? its just the stock stereo but i checked the amp it wasnt that. it really sounds like its grounded out or maybe something in the headunit blew. it doesnt make sense to me at all. the subs are putting out sound but just not like they usually do. and they arent blown at all. so confusing!!!!

All eight speakers in a Camaro are powered by the Monsoon amp so it is not the head unit causing the problem - your hatch speakers would be exhibiting the same symptoms if the HU's rear channels were bad.

I suspect the speakers themselves are worn out. Have you had a look at them? They are made of very cheap materials that don't age well.

Damn i was hoping it was the HU........ya i took them out and used other speakers same thing. sound came out just not much at all its like theres a short somewhere or its grounded out not letting the full sound get to the subs but it doesnt make sense where it would be.

Your amp could be bad. It's an eight channel amp so there's separate output for each speaker. Do you know another Camaro owner you could swap amps with to test?

Are the speakers the original factory subs or have they been replaced? We often hear of this problem when someone replaces the factory 2-ohm subs with either a full-range speaker or a low-efficiency 4-ohm sub. A good 4-ohm sub will work fine because the extra sensitivity makes up for the loss of power due to higher impedance. But a cheap 4-ohm sub will lose half the available power from the amp.
