Default Proform Adjustable Shift Light Help Needed

I am installing a Proform adjustable shift light in my car and need a little help.
This is the light- http://www.jegs.com/i/Proform/778/67005C/10002/-1

I ran my ground & power wires, the power wire is 12v accessory when the key is turned on. I ran my signal wire off the white wire from the computer (2002). When I turn the car on, the power wire reads 12v, and the signal wire reads 9v. So I hooked it all up.
When I first turn the car on, the shiftlight lights up for about 2 seconds (just like they normally do). I had the RPM dial set on 3k RPMS. I turned it to 5,500 and the light never came on. Where should I start looking for an issue? It seems the light is working fine, just an issue with the RPM signal.

you probally have the wrong tach wire... 9 volts isnt right

I got pin 10 white wire, according to install 99-02 is the same

Not sure what is going on, may try to jump from the negative side of the coil

Did you set it to 4-cylinder mode?

imo if you are getting 9 volt on tach wire something is wrong. it should read ac voltage be way lower then 9 and fluctuate with rpm

There are 2 wires you need to cut behind the bulb to put in 4 cyl mode, it won't work until you do that.

Here is a pic of what I am working with. I had the black to ground, red to accessory power, and the green to tach signal. There is an orange and tan wire looped up on the back I didn't touch them.

The installation instructions specify cutting and insulating the cut ends of the brown and orange wires to put it in 4-cylinder mode.

Sorry I have no clue about these or how they work, but why would I want to put it on 4cyl mode?

To work on a coil on plug setup it needs to be in 4cyl mode.....

I'm sitting in my car wracking my brain with the same issue, only my brown and orange wires are cut. Getting 5.7 volts constant, reading AC or DC voltage. Any quick help?
