Fog Lights
I noticed one night while driving home the light in the switch was not on (but the switch was). I got home, and fogs were off.
Next day, I tested them, and they seemed to work fine.
Every night since that day, the switch has been in the ON position, but no lights.
Thoughts?
I pulled the cluster bezel away and checked that the wires going into the switch were not damaged.
I have a spare switch, and plugged that one in as well.
I checked my IPDimmer fuse. It was fine. Put in a new 5A fuse just to be sure.
I couldn't check the fog light relay in the fuse box under the hood, but I swapped it out with the horn relay as they are the same.
I'm having trouble locating a working testlight, but I intend to double check that power is going to the fuse box/relay, and then to the switch. I found a test light but not paying attention noticed the bulb had been crushed and when I touched the tip to a fuse the bulb filament started burning and touched my hand. After that the filament broke and rendered the test light useless.
Let it be noted that after each attempt, listed above, I checked to see if the lights worked and have not found the issue yet.
Fog light fuse is getting power, all seems to be okay from the fuse box end.
From the fuse box red/power/battery terminal, there's power going to the fog lights.
The inline fuse there is still good.
Follow the wires across the front of the car and still current flowing. Behind the battery I have another inline fuse, and it was corroded to hell. Replaced with new fuse. Still no life. There's a "power" plug in that area, and there's no power going to/from it at all.
Went inside car, double checked power to switch. Unhooked fog light switch, and probed each prong in the plug. it's a 5 prong plug, and only one lit up the test light.
The test light I guess slipped or something but I think there was a small spark. (FACK!)
At this point, gauges, hvac, and headlight controls do NOT light up when lights are turned on. Steering wheel controls still light.
Checked all the fuses and all are good, except the 5A fuse for the Gauges. Only one side of the fuse lights. Hoping a simple replace of the fuse will fix this issue.
Still no clue why fogs aren't working. Didn't check bulbs because I want to get the car on ramps before I crawl under it.
It wound up being the 5A fuse for the gauges. Put a new one in, and all is good.
Still haven't figured out the issue with my fog lights though...
