I had the 35 watt 893 bulbs in my T/A for years without heat problems. But there are 50 watt versions (885 straight, 886 right angle) that have been reported to cause complete destruction of the sockets and housings due to melting. YMMV.

10,000K? So you're installing for appearance only and aren't concerned about effective lighting?

10,000K is useless as far as vision is concerned. All you're going to do with them is attract cops and **** off people in front of you...

Ditto. Harder, but still possible. The main drawback with those lights is how hard it is to find some quality H3C HID bulbs since regular H3 HID bulbs don't fit. I actually went back to stock partially for that reason alone.

Here is the T/A bracket from an earlier post in this thread using a fog light similar (probably the same) as the one I used:

That looks like it took less work than the Firebird/Formula one. I had to bend and drill new holes in the Formula brackets. On this T/A bracket, it looked like only 2 new holes were needed.

I guess it depends on if you have a power drill or not. He may have had to use... A file... Or... A lighter... Or something.

Just stick with stock replacement or go hid.

It's not a question of IF. It's a question of WHEN.

Interesting. Well thanks for the tip! I don't often drive with them on, only when some extra light is needed.

I got some bulbs off ebay, (hid I believe) 3k or 7k I think. It's been about 10 months. One of them went out after ?6months? I turned them on the other day just to see which it was and they're both out. I haven't even turned them on a single time since I noticed the first one had gone out. Haven't yet checked the sockets/housings to see if there has been any problems, but I want this fixed asap. I need to find my stock bulbs again just to have it working. I wouldn't reccommend much off ebay personally, I've notcied alot of it not being top notch for our cars. But maybe others have had better experience.

That has nothing to do with this thread. Make a new thread for your "HID bulb" issue... Unless the housings are melted, your post does not apply... Also, if you only put bulbs in and not a ballast, they are not HID and are just regular bulbs with a blue tint applied... Also, there is a HUGE difference between 3000k and 7000k in the way it looks.

Your 96 is probably metal and glass housings so you're probably fine.

I have ran 35w hid kits in the firebird/trans am fog lights and haven't had any issues at all (knock on wood).

I am going to find some glass lights same size to replace them with so I can run a 55w kit soon. I might just throw some glass projectors in there depending on price. Right now my 35w kit puts out quite a bit of light. When they are aimed up you can pretty much use them as driving lights as long as the cops don't bug you haha.
