Default Auto trix window fix question

Who has installed this and how hard was it? My passenger window is starting to get very slow and noisy. I'm going to try this before I replace the motor. In the near future I'm planning on doing the wire mod as well and I heard you have to run the wires in the engine bay. Could I run them in the fender well along with the rest of the wire mod? I searched and couldn't find anything.

It's a little time consuming, but pretty simple. You need to run a power line through the firewall to the positive battery terminal. I don't see any reason why you can't run it through the fender well if you were to do the wire mod.

I just wasn't sure if anyone had done it. I'm hoping the wires they include with the kit are long enough to do that.

Yea I had a few extra feet of wire. And it really doesn't take much more to do the wire mod.

Should I buy it first, then if that doesn't cure the problem go ahead and buy the motor? The motor works, but is getting VERY slow. I ride with my windows down almost all the time.

I would buy it first. Even if you do put a new motor in, it will make a big difference and prolong the life of the new motor.

Like mentioned above, it's not a difficult job. They actually give you too much wire and it can make it harder to cram it all back in the door. I also recommend soldering if you're able to do so instead of crimping.

I did the same, started noticing the motor go so I bought the fix before replacing the motor just in case the motor was still in working condition after the fix. Unfortunately mine was too far gone.

I'm not sure if its related but I have had battery draining issues over the years and this is the only extra thing I have hooked up that I can think of that might be the culprit. Has anyone else had draining issues with this window fix? I told the dealership to hook it back up as it was with the new motor but perhaps they messed something up with it. Didn't mean to hijack the thread, just curious as it could be related.

I doubt the dealership would know what to do. I don't trust them all, maybe I'm just cynical from all the bad experiences.

I've never had any battery drain issues, and my car sits for weeks at a time. I did the Autotrix fix a while back and I also got a new Optima Yellow Top battery around that time . Never had any issues. Are you sure yours was hooked up correctly?

It worked amazing on my car. I ended up not even needing to replace the motor.

Autotrix kit, when wired right, will not drain the battery. Heck after my accident my car sat all winter with the battery still connected (forgot to disconnect and then it got buried under a snowdrift), months later when I sold it to someone it started up instantly.

I'm positive I had it connected as per the instructions I had. I can't attest to how its connected now as the dealership touched it last. Funny the part that's held me back from taking the door apart and looking is the lock slider. That thing alone took me the longest time to reinstall the first time around. Just couldn't get my fingers in there to attach the metal lock rod to the back of it.

I didn't have the drain issues for a while but then my battery would drain from sitting more than 2 days without running. I thought the amp/sub was the culprit but the amp blew out on a hot day a couple years ago so I took it out and the power strap is currently disconnected from the battery and it still has drain issues. The only other thing I've got connected is the window fix. Currently its got a trickle charger to counteract the drain but I'll have to double check the wiring or find out what's causing the drain before I replace the battery again.
