Exclamation Rear Camera Install help please!

Okay so I decided to finally get rid of the bunk cd player that was in the car when I got it so I went with the double din AVH-4400BH. I also bought the back up camera for it as well... What I need to know is where do I put the purple wire coming off the H.U ? (says Reverse Gear Signal) I hooked that wire up to the reverse light (just tapped it from the pig tail in the back) Then there is a White (ground) Red (power) coming from the camera as well for its power source... Where does that go? I tried a few spots and what is happening is when i put it in reverse the camera will infact come on and since i also tapped the power wire from the same pigtail (reverse light) the camera will apparently stay on since when im on the radio/ipod screen or any other the camera will just kick on automatically no matter if i turn it back to the radio/ipod screen few seconds later it will kick back to camera mode... I dont know why its doing it, no mater where i put the power source it keeps doing this... I eventually want to install it to where I can turn the camera on at anytime but if I cant even get it to work the way it was intented to be used I shouldnt bother trying to install it the way I want just yet.

Any help is appreciated!

Car is a 2000 Trans AM.

Found these on a search. Not much directly on how to install, but some info non-the-less.

This thread is a different topic, but it shows the camera mounted where the keyhole goes in the rear filler panel

Thanks for replying! I seen all those though lol that's why I posted my problem. Everyone seems to run it to the reverse light like i have done. But no one explains what power source to run it too and the problem im having with the camera coming back on even when im not in reverse. Thanks for the info though, Learned that you can wire the reverse signal from the drivers kick panel but since i already am done wiring it from the pigtail im leaving it. I also did the keyhole mod.
