ok so the first effort from mechman was a complete bust.

thought i detailed and showed how the header bears down on the outside of the alt and sure as **** that's exactly where the electrical connection is on the shipped unit. what a waste of effort.

What do you have in the area of the passenger side cylinder head? Put a second alternator on it?

Have you given a second battery a thought? If you're only having an issue at WOT, this may be the easiest solution.

Question

Any update on this MM?

Im in the beginning stages of trying to fix the same issue on my car. I do have the larger Yukon Alt on it now and its just not cutting it (11.7v ish at best when my fan kicks on). So any info on a solution for yours would be appreciated.

if you have the room you can fit either a custom denso hairpin high efficiency unit or a high output ad230 from mechman or another capable company.

unfortunately i just dont have the room and still have the 130d.

IMO, I hate to say it but it sounds like you just need to break down and relocate the alternator up top. With the higher heat and less air flow around the alternator in the stock location you have now it'll probably kill any alternator. I'd also step up to a 1/0 awg power cables to minimize power lose from the long run to the back of the car.
BTW, I now have a DC power 220-SPX on order now since my 5yr old PM 85203 is going out.

MM, did you ever find anything HO in a 130D case? i'm not sure my alt will handle the loads once i get the car going and my powermaster in a 130A case has the mounting holes in the wrong spot. my alt is on the lower pass side now and the bracket is set up around this case for the most part. lmk if you would please.

mechman set me up with a few options, that may all likely work for you, but in my case they just werent right for me. i was using a voltage adjuster they sent me on the stock alt that seem'd to help.
