Default Second head unit in 2004 escalade?

Stock CD/Cassette stereo with Bose system. I have a PAC audio adapter that is a toggle switch that allows me to plug in a MP3 player. When on the XM band, with the switch thrown, output is from MP3.

Two questions on this.

First: I would like to replace the stock in-dash CD changer with an in-dash Navigation head unit. I realize an adapter or splicing would need to be done, but I would think it would be possible. So, what do you suggest would be needed to allow the nav system to pass through stock head unit?

Second: Assuming this would work, what in the heck is that bottom piece called around the CD-changer? I would like to find this piece but don't have a clue as to what it is called so it makes it hard to search for. (If someone here could make one, that would be fantastic).
