Question Aeroforce Interceptor hardwire?

I want to purchase an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge but I know from reading posts on here that sometimes the install is a little more complicated than plug and play via the OBD2 port. I believe the 1998 model years have to also hardwire the gauge for power via a 12v source whereas someone with a 2001 model year camaro did not, he just plugged it into OBD2 and was good to go.

I have a 1999, does anyone know if I would have to hardwire it or not?

I hate messing with wires so I hope I don't have to.

I have 2 of these to go in my car as well, mine is an 02, areoforce is not clear as to the model years 1998-02 and if it need the 12v hard wire it's probably the luck of the draw either it works off ECU/OBD2 or you need to hard wire.

Any stereo installer can do this it's very, very simple same as wiring a radar detector red wire to power source black to ground like most all wiring...don't sweat it it's a piece of cake.

Don't buy the cheapo glow shift gauge pod off e-bay...get the auto meter much better quality get it from summitt racing you'll have it in 2 days and it's very inexpensive.

Thanks, I like that the interceptor does so much but I went back and looked at my budget and it will put me over $2000 for this round of mods and I really want to keep it below 2k so I may opt for a standard auto meter trans temp gauge for now, and then get an aeroforce later when I actually need it idk lol

Why not just use the Aeroforce gauge as the trans temp gauge as well? They have aux. sensors for the gauge.

To find out if you need to hardwire it is pretty cut and dry. Plug it in to the ODB port. If it doesnt turn on and off with the key, or if it turns on when you open the door then hardwire.
