Question AUX question

Have a stock '99 monsoon Radio cd combo without the cd changer. Would like to wire my Sirius sat radio into the unit via the AUX input. Since I have never been inside the dash I was wondering if the AUX inputs are RCA type jacks or what? Also how do you remove the plastic bezel that surrounds the radio, air vents, climate controls without breaking anything?
Thanks for your input.

In general the 1999 Monsoon CD headunit can't control a CD Changer or other AUX device although some later 1999 Monsoon headunits can. 2000 and later CD Headunits can control the CD Changer and have an AUX input. The bezel in the Firebird just pulls off. I guess the bezel on the Z28 comes off in the same manner. You can use a butter knife or a dull dinner knife to get between the radio and bezel. Then gently pry it up.

Here is some more info on the AUX feature:

Thanks. I don't know if it supports the AUX input or not, though it does have a button for it on the face. It's the same button that has CD on it also.
Again thanks for the info.

Sorry but there sre no inputs on the read of the oem radio that will allow you to do a direct input.

You will have to use a fm modulated unit or one with a fm transmitter.

Did you check the thread I linked?
There is an adapter cable available.

Thanks again. I'm reading over the info on the adapter right now. I guess the best thing to do is pull the head unit and have a look at what's back there. Probably do that this evening since the time change gives me some daylight after work.

The FM modulator works pretty good for the most part. I do get some static in town where the freqs are picking up a strong signal from the local radio stations.

Once I get into it I'll post what I find here.

The more I read about it the less likely it seems it will work with my particular head unit. You'd think the factory would get rid of this proprietary crap so that it wouldn't be such a PITA to mess with.

Why would they do that? This way they can force you to buy their parts or another company can gouge you on an adapter cable (how the hell can that cable cost $70-$100?!). Its all about the money.
