Driver side speakers not sounding properly I have a 2002 T/A convertible, recently bought. I can turn the balance control to the left and turn up the volume to get a sound out of the driver’s side speakers from the radio and CD but nothing like the volume of the right speakers. I don’t know how to proceed to trouble shoot this problem. Let me say right off the bat that I am not technically versed in this sort of thing so if you could keep it simple. This affects both the front door and the rear speakers on the drivers side. Per the CarFax the car has had repairs to the driver window motor and seat belt re-tractor in the past.
It is 10 years old. Speakers do tend to die out, or start farting after several years. Especially if the previous owner(s) liked to blast their music a lot. It may be due to something else though but like you I'm not technically versed in this stuff either so I wouldn't have a clue.

Then i bypassed the Monsoon amp to ensure that it wasn't feeding the speakers bad signals and it wasn't the cause.
Turned out to be the HU, which I'm in the process of replacing.

You can take a double A battery, cut the speaker lines and test by placing positive to negative lines on those same spots on the battery. Then just crimp the lines back together. You should get a scratchy vinyl type sound, and if you do, then the problem is not the speakers. IMHO I think it's your amp, the channels are fried or dead, start with that battery test, if it passes, check the amp and then the head unit.

Door speaker test I pulled the door panel and tested the connection with another speaker and found no change in volume response.
I pulled the Head Unit and took a multi-meter and evaluated the volts being sent on the left rear speaker to that of the right rear speaker and there is a big difference with the right exceeding the left.
I even ran a wire from the HU to the speaker and gotten the same volume as the first test of a separate speaker.
Base on all this I am going to replace the Head Unit.
