Default Stock cd player problems/please help

My stock cd player for my 97 camaro will not read any cds. When you put them in it says err for error. I talked to a man at an audio store and he said to disconnect my battery and then put it back in. I did that and it still does not work. Thanks

Have you tried using a lens cleaner?
Are the CDs that it wont read, CD-R or CD-RW, or are they store bought Audio CDs?

You can by a lens cleaner, no need to disassemble the headunit. Its available at BestBuy/Circuitcity/CD stores/.....
