Im replacing my driver window motor in my 2000 camaro ss Is there a certain after market motor I get that's better and if so where can I buy one? Thanks

 

Many people (including myself) have had good luck with the dorman #742101 motor. Can be found cheap on rockauto and amazon.

I used a dorman like zfastss mentioned. I prefer to never roll my window down, lol.

 

Well I used this one http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...ontent=general when I replaced the passenger motor, that had been replaced by the previous owner 2 years earlier, not sure what brand the old one was, but if you do the "dirty" method of drilling out the inner door panel like he did in the link posted a few posts up it makes it a quick job and there only like 30 bucks on amazon to begin with so I don't think brand matters that much.

And that thing spent all summer going up and down several times a day, (I don't leave my windows down when the car is parked out of my eyesight)

 

Is it better to just take it somewhere and get it done cause I asked how much they do it for and they said $300 but I thought that was a little to much to replace the motor, or is it worth it?

 

Dude it is easy as hell to do. It is the first repair I did when I got my SS.

 

Really not hard to do, and I believe the dorman has a lifetime warranty. You can also get them from your local auto parts store, mine had them in stock.

 

DUDE that is CRAZY MONEY, check the link above from zfastss or hell, go on YOUTUBE and search it, it's like a 30 minute job if you drill the 3 holes in the inner panel that you will never know are there once the door panel is back in place, it was the second thing I did on this car after doing the 98+ airbox mod.

 

yes you can get them locally, but there nearly DOUBLE the price you can get them from amazon.

You can save yourself around 250 dollars and it should take less than an hour if its your first time
