Default How many watts is my Monsoon system??

..I don't know much about the Monsoon system - I've done research, but I'm not finding what I'm looking for. It is my unterstanding that the Monsoon systems have been offered with 200 watts and also with 500 watts.
I'm having trouble locating my window sticker that has this info on it. I have a 2001 Camaro SS with a single CD player in the head unit and auto tone control, steering wheel controls... Is this enought info to determine which of the available Monsoon 'power levels' is in this car?

Because you have a 2001 z28 you have the Monsoon rated at 500 peak watts. However it still doesnt sound that great especialy if it suposidly has 500 watts.

...I agree. These watts don't sound too clean. I understand the speakers aren't that great either. Looks like another project is pending.

BTW, you can find all the options installed on your car from the RPO codes on the door sticker. There should be dozens of 3-character codes listed but the W54 and W55 are the 500-watt Monsoon systems with cassette and CD head units respectively.

Thanks. I was looking for a description of those codes and didn't find anything pertinent to my question. Thanks again for the info.

The amp is "rated" at 500w peak. WHICH first of all, is over rated. It more effectively puts out about 400w peak, and more like 175-200w continuously. Keep in mind though this power is split amongst 8 speakers. So realisticaly your not getting much more then 30 to 40 watts of power out of it. To top that, the quality is extremely poor since its a lower end, mass produced amplifier. TO finish things off GM used the cheapest wires they could find. Too small for quality sound. Not to mention the speakers which are worse then what they used in the old Datson's.

If you want sound keep what you have, if you want music spend a few bucks, buy some good speakers. A new head unit and an amp will give you lots of power and quality music.

My 2 cents.
