Installed Viper Alarm...Need Help!!

right. i cut the starter wire and had the violet on the car side of the starter wire and the green going to the key side. I was not able to start my car with the key with that setup though. I had to connect the flex relay wires as well. Flex relay output wire (pink/white) hooked up to the car side of the starter wire with the violet wire and Flex relay input wire (pink/black) hooked up to the key side the starter wire with the green wire. With this setup i can now start the car with my key, however the setup does not kill the car if the alarm activates.
