I wanted replacement speakers as mine had finally given up. First looked & talked to crutchfield with the only real good conclusion being replacing it all and re-wiring. Being I'm simply not going to invest in that, I did not know of a solution until I read the Monsoon FAQ and ran across Kee Audio.
Here are my replacements:

and they sound absolutely great. While I was tearing things apart, I also added some sound deadening to each area.

4th Generation Firebird LEVEL 2 Speaker Package With Upgraded CDT Subwoofers:
HOLIDAY SPECIAL PRICE: $329.97 FREE SHIPPING IN THE US
(Regular Price: $409.97)
Firebird
1.) CDT Audio CL-61.2 6.5" Component Speaker System (doors)
2.) CDT AUdio HD-6M DVC 6.5" DVC Subwoofers (sailpanels)
3.) CDT Audio CL-4EX 4" coaxials (hatch)
Well I tell ya I started out with crutchfield and they even told me that if I wired it up with the speakers I bought from them it wouldn't sound right, and that when I only wired in 1 channel to the subs I wouldn't be getting but ~35w worth of subs instead of 70W. I ran into Kee Audio here and I gotta tell ya its a world of difference over stock and easy as hell to install.
And it may seem daunting at first, the $329.97 price tag, but figure this, crutchfield for your two subs is ~$150 for the pair (or MORE) then another pair of speakers with tweeters is $200, then the last pair is $150 again... so you do the math versus Kee Audio price for ALL speakers, instant replacement, instant wire up (especially the sub) as long as you purchase the level 2, with CDT sub.
I also soldered in all my other connections, except the sub as its a push spring loaded connection.

I believe it is already. REad through all of the monsoon FAQ, and I believe it mentions Kee Audio as a vendor that sells speakers; that is how I found him.
Ian (Kee Audio) also has a FAQ / Installation instructions on his website.
Very informative

true. Yeh, I needed to really add to what I said. You could leave the factory monsoon amp when you replace the head unit, OR if you are completely replacing everything, then you can put whatever speakers you want (as long as you run new wires, etc.)

was thinking about getting this same package soon. I am still sorta torn between the level 2 or 3 though. It looks like the only difference is the fronts. Not sure how much of a difference it will make if I stay stock amp though.

I talked to him and he made a pretty convincing argument that the sound is remarkable better. The stock system has good SQ just not at high levels. These help that a little but mostly they help the SQ immensely.
