Default Kee audio replacement packages

Hi, I have a 99 Camaro ss with the monsoon system (which I think is one of the worst sounding systems ever). It has so much distortion etc. I want to replace my speakers and I have been doing a lot of research and lots of people say to delete the hatch speakers. I was thinking on doing a level 3 kee audio package, just without the hatch speakers, will this give me better sound than with the hatch speakers? Also, ive read the packages make a world of difference and others that say it doesn't really make it sound all that good. does anyone have a video of their kee audio system playing? I want to replace the head unit with an aftermarket so I have aux hook up and get a speaker package. How big of a difference do the kee audio packages make? and should I retain hatch speakers or just delete them? I don't know anything about audio so any input can help. I listen to disturbed, ffdp, and a lot heavier bands. some techno/dubstep type music.

You will get a much better improvement in sound by upgrading your head unit first. Try that and then if you want more go ahead and get one of Kee's packages. I have the level 3 and I'm very satisfied. No distortion at any volume level.

Don't see why you would want to delete the hatch speakers.....

Most people that are buying these cars recently have never actually heard a fully functioning Monsoon system because the speakers are done. When they do get the stock Monsoon working again, you find that it is a pretty decent sounding system. At least they had the thought to put in subs to cover the low end bass. The problem was they were very poorly made. Check this out from my latest install:

Door speakers in this pic were actually still working. They were completely trashed though. I could tell when I pulled them out. Here they are with the felt covering off so you can see the surround...or where it used to be.

Same with the stock subs:

I have had customers cancel an order for the 10" stealth enclosure because the stock system, once it was back and going again, they found that with the new subs in there it was enough bass for them. I was building that enclosure for them so I sent the speakers ahead so he could at least get that part done. So a functional stock system should be the first start, then see if you need more of something, whether it's bass or just more power, etc. With the Monsoon system functioning properly you at least have a starting point and you may find that more then the speaker set up is not needed.
The Level 3 is a great system. It does make a big difference in sound quality. With the music you described, you would be pleased with the outcome. Especially with a radio upgrade you would really clean up the Delco distortion box they call a radio.
Shoot me an email and I can set you up with the whole thing, speakers, radio, and all the install gear needed to put the radio in. All the speaker packages are on sale right now so take advantage of the savings!

I went with his Level 3 Premium Package almost 2 years ago and kept everything stock. Just replacing the speakers made a big difference. Riding around with the tops off at highway speed there is plenty of clear sound. I only use the CD player so can't say how the radio sounds.

The only downside to playing it that loud is my ears ring afterward.

i doubt any vid will help since you'll be judging everything based on the recording device taking the video and not the speakers themselves. i went with the premium package, level 2 i think, and thought about putting in a new head unit but once i got the new speakers in everything sounded great at least to my ears. i had one oem speaker that had torn and the material was like rotting paper. the kee speakers weighed twice as much and were of much better quality.

I just want the upgraded head unit for the aux port. How do you like the level 2 package? does it compare with newer car stock radio systems?

i probably could have gone with the base speaker package for the f-body since all i was doing was replacing speakers and nothing else. the price increase for the premium speakers was minimal so i went with those. i don't know anything about speakers and i'm not into audio so i can't really tell you how it compares. my car with the one blown speaker sounded so bad for a while i kept the system off. with the kee speakers it sounds at least as good when the car was new and it sounds fine.

The monsoon head unit and amp are not bad. It's the speakers that are horrible, especially if you bought the car used. Just upgrading the speakers is a huge difference.

I never understand why people do not replace the hatch speakers. They must sit really close to the steering wheel if they can not hear the rear speakers.

I have always heard good things about Kee Audio.

I got a level 3 from Kee and a standard Kenwood head unit earlier this year. Fast shipping awesome prices and the CDT's kick butt!

I am very happy and you do not want to delete the hatch speakers it will sound like *** without them. I tried...I still have the factory monsoon amp and wiring to boot. It has great sound and a very nice mid bass. If I wanted a heavy thump I would add a sub in the back, but I guess I am getting old because I don't want to spend the money or time to wire it up for that little bit more. LOL

Kee was awesome and helpfull.
