A Subwoofer Idea!
If you think this would work, which subs should I get. I dont want to add a sub somewhere, but I am tired of the 6 1/2s limited travel!! Thanks.

Feel free to say it is stupid, because I know nothing about speakers, and stereo. :haha:
the 8" rockford fosgate has almost a 4" mounting depth... my 6.5s are less than 3"..
another thing to think about is that most subs require an enclosure.. that would probably be the most challenging part to do.. it would almost surely have to be fiberglass and custom. it probably can be done, but it would be difficult.
Get a sawzall, and cut a 8" square hole around the stock speaker opening. Cut a 9"-10" square panel (with one corner cut off to allow for the wheelwell) out of MDF, with a 8" mounting hole for a Infinite-Baffle type of subwoofer cut into the middle of it. Seal the baffle to the metal of the car using RTV and screws. You might want to sound deaden the inside of the cavity, and the metal surface as well. Very important: Use a IB type subwoofer for this! if you use a regular type of woofer, the suspension of the speaker will bottom out, because the enclosure made from the body of the car isn't sealed airtight. IB subwoofers have stiff suspensions to compensate for this.
Solution #2:
Get a sawzall, and cut a 8" square hole around the stock speaker opening. Get some Great stuff spray foam and fill all the metal seams with that. Then, paint the cured foam with some house paint or something to seal the foam, and keep the fiberglass resin from melting it.When the paint is dry, Layer 3 or 4 layers of fiberglass on the inside of the cavity, making sure that every surface is covered well. Mount a plate as described above in the IB install, and fiberglass onto the inside of the plate. Make sure that all the fiberglass is thick and strong. Mount any 8" subwoofer to the MDF plate. The enclosure should be airtight.
As you can see, the easiest install is the IB install. If you find some good IB woofers, at least a 100wx2 amp, it should sound fine.
