help with Focals

I got some Focal 165k2 I bought from a member here. Anyway, I am having a hard time making them sound better than the stock monsoon stuff. I am using an Alpine HU...jl audio 500/5 (100 watts per/ch to the Focals) i didn't do any dyonamat or anything...just installed them with some better wire. They are loud enuff but no more bass than the stock speakers. Any ideas? Seems like they would put out a little more bass than the stockers.

Did you replace both the fronts and sail panel speakers with them?

make sure they are in phase, both the woofers, tweeters and input. Doube check all your settings on the amp, like the crossover, and all the stuff on the alpine deck. If you have a higher model make sure you don't have the crossover up to high on it.

You won't get a lot of bass from one set of 6 1/2" woofers. And like madd said, especially if you just replace the fronts. Add some bass and they'll sound damn sweet.

Yeah, that was what I was gonna say. Probably not gonna get much bass out of them. I have a set of 165K2's sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Just need to figure out where to mount the tweeters before I start installing them. Also have a 10" Solobaric for the hatch, should take care of my bass needs

I just replaced the door speakers....sail panels are disconnected (convertible). I have a sub box but just switching from focal on left to the reinstalled factory speaker on the right....no real difference. I have them phased properly and wired correctly. I'llmonkey with it more tomorrow I guess. Just doesn't sound hardly any cleaner.

Won't Get Much Bass

You won't get much bass out of your front stage. Look at my front stage. I am only getting highs with some mid added in there but all the bass comes from the rear. You probably have it right being that you said it's loud. That is what the front is for.
