radio power loss

radio power loss So I have the monsoon sound system kind of. I'm the 2nd owner of 99 z28 but the factory amp is gone. Still has the original 4" in the back, now has 2 kickers with 2 jl amps and crossovers under the amps in the 'trunk'. I've come to find out it seems like whomever put the stereo in did a pretty good job wiring it (as far as the connections I've seen), but I lose power to the head unit when driving. Doesn't seem to be related to volume of stereo it will restart over and over then play for 20min then reset. it resets like 3-5 seconds back from where it 'died'. So I was assuming ground or power, fuses all look good. ground and power wires seem solid up to the harness, I don't know where the stock harness grounds out though? back at the battery?! If so then I know it's okay, if it's under the dash somewhere then I'd like to know where so I can check that. When I took the car through the car was yesterday as soon as the water hit it the head unit died, when I came out of the wash it started up... coincidence!? Also there's a lot of static coming off of the body, don't know if that would signal a grounding issue or anything? Just stuff I've noticed since I've had the problem for the last 2 weeks or so. I've read it could be a grounding issue with the wires from the speakers, and I have checked them all but the door speakers but water could be grounding them out if there's a leak from the old door gaskets? It also does it when dry though. Anyway just looking for a starting point and the stock ground for the head unit figure those are good points to work from.

bcm I really dont think it's the bcm when the radio goes I still have windows. Unless it reconnects that fast. Usually have tons of problems now that its above freezing most of the time it seems as tho. Its not mia. :/
is the radio a detachable face? my Pioneer will on random occasions (can happen a couple times in one day then not happen again for months) will cut off and when I push on the face it comes back on, like sometimes the contacts between the headunit and it's detachable face plate come loose.

it is It is a detachable face, I probably could use a hair pin or something to pull out the contacts on the face plate. It's also a pioneer, Just looking for suggestions I have the kit to go to 1 din, stock is 1.5 din? Anyone using a dvd player/or/bluetooth head unit that they've had a wonderful experience with. Looking for something under 500.00 which are easy to find, just don't know about some of the brands. Personally I've always used pioneer but the last 2 that I purchased arnt great.
