Problems with 2000 Camaro Stereo Install
I have a 2000 Camaro that I bought from the second owner a few years back with 60K Miles. The stereo system appears to be stock and has never been replaced. I put in a new head unit and it all worked well. When I went to replace the door speakers, they had the 4 wire setup, like on the Monsoon my Firebird has. All 4 wires had output but it was obvious that one set has highs only. They have Delco markings on them and are 4 Ohm, unlike the 2 Ohms on the Monsoon Setup. This means that they have to go through a Crossover or an Amp but the is absolutely no Amp around the spare tire area (or anywhere else in the entire hatch area on either side) Does anyone have any ideas about this? I have looked on all of the sites Google could find about the Monsoon setup but it appears this one never had one. On a final note, there are speakers in both sides of the hatch but they are only small speakers without separate tweeters.
Where is the signal being split to feed the tweeters in the doors? Thank you

I guarantee you have a Monsoon system complete with amp. Look for option code UZ7 on the door label. Without a Monsoon system, you would not have components in the doors or 4" mids in the hatch area. Please read the Monsoon FAQ sticky for more information including a photo of the way the Monsoon amp is mounted to the back of a bracket in front of the spare tire (easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for).
The Monsoon system uses a mix of 2-ohm and 4-ohm speakers but none of that makes any difference in whether you need a different amp or crossovers - I don't know where you would have heard such a thing.

Its been awhile, but I am pretty sure the Monsoon amp is in the right sail panel in between speaker and spare tire. Look at the right sail panel speaker and continue following it to the rear of the vehicle. Best of luck, IMO ditch the monsoon system when you can.
