Ok, so was giving my lights a once over getting ready for an inspection and noticed the driver's side brake light wasn't lighting up, but only when braking.
The light works when the lights are on
The turn signal works
It only doesn't get brighter when braking
Haven't had a chance to test the connections in the socket. Did swap out the bulb just to be sure, same results.
I'm thinking it's a dead turn signal switch?

Yes, the turn signal switch is the probable culprit. Since the Firebird shares the brake lights with the turn signals and your turn signals work, you know that the sockets, bulbs, grounds, and wiring from the dash are all fine. The brake light switch must be working because the other side still works. So that pretty much leaves the turn signal switch. There's another thread in this section with more detailed diagnostic information for the exact same problem - you should be able to find it with a little searching.
