Unhappy 2000 Camaro: Security light on--car won't start. VATS bypass not working.

Hi everyone!

Basically, my car isn't starting and the security light flashes intermittently. I tried the VATS bypass (my key measures 15 ohms, so I tried a resistor with the same resistance) and it didn't work. Taking advice I read on another forum, I measured the resistance of the white wires with the key in the ignition, and it displayed the correct value of the key. Could this be something to do with the BCM? Any advice? I have a new key coming tomorrow so I'll try that too.

If it's of any use: it's been extremely humid here (Ontario, Canada) and I took the car out in the heavy rain to go to the corner store, where it wouldn't start after.

The car is a 2000 Camaro Z28 A4.

Thanks!

I think it's unlikely your pellet read 15 ohms. That's lower than I've ever seen...

Here are the VATS values I found online (values in K-Ohms):
1覧覧 0.402
2覧覧 0.523
3覧覧 0.681
4覧覧-0.887
5覧覧-1.130
6覧覧-1.470
7覧覧-1.870
8覧覧-2.370
9覧覧-3.010
10覧覧3.740
11覧覧4.750
12覧覧6.040
13覧覧7.500
14覧覧9.530
15覧覧11.801

Check your multimeter's Ohm range and measure again.

Derp. Yeah, it'll be the 1.470. My multimeter displays in whole numbers. The resistor(s) I used and the pellet match on my multimeter.

Anyway, the security light doesn't always come on when the car doesn't start--I'm thinking maybe starter related then? I need to tow the car back to my house and get it on jack stands. It's sitting at the corner store where it died.

I also just had a new key made at my GM dealer, but it physically won't go in the ignition. Ignition was probably replaced at some point I suppose by a previous owner.

check to see if your getting voltage at the starter relay that's in the fuse box under the hood on the driver's side when key is turned.

Just a heads up to anyone who may be having a similar issue--it was my starter and ignition relays. Replaced both, and the car runs fine now. Thanks everyone!

I have a problem with my 97 vert rs kinda the same but security light isn't on or flashing but injectors aren't being told to operate. I put new fuel pump in and have pressure at the rails, i made the vats bypass resistor pack but still no dice. It does crank just needs fuel. I sprayed ether in the throttle body and it fires right up until it burns off after about 2 seconds. It pissed me off so much i just left it on jack stands in the garage and went and bought a 99 SS vert. Anybody have a clue what could be the issue?
