Interior lights wont turn off

Default Interior lights wont turn off

I have a 1999 convertible SS, for some reason without pulling the courtesy fuse or disconnecting the battery i cant get the interior lights to turn off. I checked the dimmer switch, both doors, rear hatch, glove box and mirror all check out fine. If i pull the fuse with the key out and reinstall the fuse the lights stay off. Once the key is in the ignition they turn back on and stay on even after the key is removed. What do i do?

So, you are saying they stay on until the battery dies and you have to jump the car?

No i don't let them drain the battery i just pulled the courtesy fuse and leave it out. If I leave it in they don't turn off. Once the car is off I can reinstall the fuse and they stay off but if i put the the key in the ignition they are back on again.

You may have a bad BCM. Even if the door switch is stuck or malfunctioning (making it seem like the door is always open), the BCM should go into battery saver mode after about 15 minutes and that would shut off the interior lights.

Ok so I tried leaving the fuse in came back 20 minutes later and they were off so does that mean it is a door switch?

Have you tried opening and firmly closing the hatch? Sometimes the hatch ajar sensor switch will cause the problem.

You can test the door and hatch switches with a multimeter using either the continuity setting or the DC resistance (ohms) setting. Unplug the blue 32-pin connector from the BCM. Find the three wires in positions D11, D12 and D13. They are gray/black, black/white and orange/black in that order with an empty pin preceding and a light green wire following. Connect one meter probe to a good ground such as a dash bolt and touch the other probe to each of the pins in turn. The meter should indicate continuity to ground (or 0 ohms) when the corresponding door is open and no continuity (infinite ohms) when the door is closed.

D11 - gray/black - driver's door
D12 - black/white - passenger's door
D13 - orange/black - hatch

It's most likely the hatch latch. Bad design.

I ended up figuring what was wrong with it. Bad rear hatch, thank you though.

YOu mean bad latch? Hatch doesnt go bad unless some accident happened
