I'm trying to wire the Hella fogs to my factory switch in my 02 SS. The Hella wire has 3 colored wires. One is black, blue and yellow. The blue wire is for the head lights lead. I had to tap into that wire as per their instructions. So, I'm stuck cause I don't know how to wire this and I'm not very skilled in electronics. Can anyone help?

Here are a few diagrams and pic of the wire

You don't need any of that extra wiring that came with the kit. Simply cut off the connector on the Hella light's pigtail, connect the green wire to the factory purple wire and the black wire to the factory black wire. The necessary relay and all other connections are already in the vehicle from the factory.

Thanks. So the factory harness is sufficient enough to power the 55W system?

Would it be easier to cut the hella wires and buy a oem connector that way I do not cut into the factory connector? Do you know what type of connector I would need?

Yes, the harness is 16 gauge from the relay so it will comfortably handle the current of less than five amps over the eight feet or so from relay to bulb. Even if you were not satisfied and wanted heavier wire (say for 100W bulbs), it would be better to just run your own larger wires from the relay socket in the junction box under the hood to the lamps rather than trying to rewire everything using the Hella harness.

There is no factory connector on the lamp side for the harness because the factory harness plugs directly into the bulb rather than into another piece of harness. You can buy a part called a "harness extension" that has a male plug and female socket connected by a short pair of wires so that you can cut the male plug off to attach to your Hella lamps. It will then plug into the female socket on the factory harness. What you're looking for is an "H11 extension harness" because H11 halogen bulbs use the same connector as the 881/894 bulbs used in the factory fog lights. They are available from Amazon for under $8 a pair.
