Rebuilding/repairing 2004 GTO headlight help needed.
Hey guys, I've searched and there's some info but not exactly what I'm looking for. I see some of you guys here and other sites that put aftermarket lenses and stuff in you ur headlamps and basically "rebuild" them. I'm not talking about stuffing a cheap add on HID kit. The lights in my car are crazy high and keep glazing over every few months even with them sealed after buffing it out. So what parts or site for parts can I go to to put good light upgrades in, and what's the best sealer to coat the lens with when I buff them again? Thanks guys. PM me if you have any non sponsor links if necessary.

There is an aftermarket set of projector headlights called Spyder that are available from Amazon and various other sources. They have halo rings but you don't have to power them if you don't like that sort of thing. The projectors are decent for the money but do produce a bit of light flare to the sides. You can put a 35W HID kit in them with good results but don't get the smoked version because the tinted lens cuts down light output significantly. The black version with clear lens gives the blacked out look without sacrificing performance.

with my "04, buffing them only lasts a few months at a time. Recently I wetsanded them out fully, and clear coated them with 2k urethane clear, so we'll see how that holds up. been on the car 3 weeks so far and no signs of yellowing, fading, or chipping yet...

Another option would be to clean them up and then apply that clear plastic film over them. It's available pre-cut for your vehicle and installation is fairly simple if you take your time.

OEM GTO projector headlights should outperform any Spyder aftermarket headlight unless you swap out its projector with something better.
Regarding upgrades, do you want new projectors in stock housings or new projectors in aftermarket housings?
I haven't seen anyone swap projectors in stock GTO headlights, but I've seen people swap out the projectors in some different Spyder and other btand aftermarket headlights for different cars. Check out HID Planet for more info (I'm on there too with the same screen name). At one point, The Retrofit Source had adapter brackets to fit their Morimoto projectors inside typical Spyder aftermarket headlights. Otherwise, you can probably fit a different projector with some custom work.

I'm not sure he's looking for a lighting upgrade as much as headlights that won't discolor over time. I suggested the Spyders as a relatively inexpensive way to get new assemblies that have a plastic lens that is less susceptible to hazing than the factory one. Same thing with putting a clear protective film over the lens after cleaning them up... it just provides some UV protection to keep them clear.
