Bad head unit?

Bad head unit? I have a 2000 Z28. The radio turns on, but I get no sound at all from the speakers. It shows a CD is in the radio, but no track pulls up, nothing ejects, and it won't take a new CD.
I checked the monsoon amp, and it's getting power. Any thoughts on what the issue is, or what to check?

I'm guessing the radio has gone bad, but you would need some extra troubleshooting to be sure. The Monsoon amp could have also failed, but that doesn't explain the disc showing up on the display.
Is it possible that the radio is showing a disc is in the CD changer? Do you have a CD changer?
