I can follow advice that I understand! I DO NOT work on cars so I don't always understand what the "advise" means.

then you wont double the resistor value. This is much easier than tearing into steering column
and cutting wires just for diagnosis.Good Luck
Who said anything about tearing into the steering column OR cutting any wires for diagnoses?

BTW, there is no need to get a new key with no resistor pellet when doing a VATS bypass with a resistor. The common practice is to insert the resistor(s) between the wires at the connector at the base of the steering column but if you really wanted to go to the trouble of doing the same thing at the BCM connector (I don't know why), simply unplugging the connector at the steering column (the two white wires in the orange sheathing) removes the ignition cylinder and key from the circuit. However, the OP has already stated that a bypass is not the desired resolution.

Please be courteous to members who may not have as much experience or knowledge... especially when they just ask for clarification.

Thank you WhiteBird for your post and for understanding and expressing the fact that not all of us have the expertise and knowledge. I read these posts and some I understand and some might as well be in a different language. I can follow instructions if they are clear. As a female I need to understand what my options are for repairs so that I do not get taken advantage of. I value your advise, direction and patience. You are a good man.

WhiteBird I Checked the ohms on both keys I received when I purchased my car. 1 was 298 the other was 308. These numbers are Not within 10% of the list? What does that tell you? What is the next step?

Are you sure that your readings aren't actually 2980 and 3080 (meter range / decimal position)? Both 2980 and 3080 would be within 10% of #9 - 3010 ohms.

That is correct. Adding 0 to the end of both numbers would make them #9. Used 20K on meter.
