Dome lights don't always turn on when you open the door - latch or actuator?
I have two potentially-related issues with my 2002 TA right now so I wanted to see if someone had seen this issue before.
1) When using the remote fob to lock the doors, the driver side will not fully lock - it'll engage about halfway, and pulling the door handle (inner or outer) will let you open the door (passenger side is fine).
2) The dome lights do not always engage when opening the door. After some trial and error, the issue appears to be that if the outer door handle is not pulled "hard" enough, the lights won't turn on. This does not appear to be an issue with the passenger side.
From what I've read, solving the actuator issue is simple and will require PN# 25664288 which is apparently the actuator/door ajar/dome lamp module that attaches to the door latch. However, my concern is that this won't address issue #2 where the lights don't always turn on.
In the expert opinion of LS1tech, is issue #2 related to the actuator, or would it require an entirely new latch assembly (PN# 16629727)? It does appear as if the latch assembly has some kind of integrated sensor but I can't figure out what circuit it's tied to yet. Thank you!
