Default Awful radio interference

Wondering if there is a way to eliminate some radio interference. Mostly on AM but effects both. When I turn the key backwards to accessory all the interference is gone. When i turn it to on, it gets bad.. and when i start the car it's completely awful. Another note: cruise causes tons of "clicking" interference when i hit the switch. I have an aftermarket JVC single DIN, stock antenna. 1998 Z28. No subs. Factory monsoon amp.

Disconnect the radio antenna and see if the problem is less or goes away. You need to figure out if the noise is getting in on a power wire, antenna line or speaker wire. Try powering the radio with a totally different external 12 volt power supply which would tell us that the noise is getting in on the power wire.

Have you checked the output of your alternator for clean power, all DC with little to no alternating current leakage past the rectifier diodes?

Once we know what line or lines are picking up the interference, we can solve it. Isolation transformers or passive high permeability ferrite toroids can be used to absorb the alternating current noise. The toroids are wrapped multiple times through the center with the wire that is affected.

Did you install anything else electrical? Doesn't matter if unrelated to radio. Like HID? Some HID kits produce interference.

Yes I have HIDs and they cause interference as well (different can of worms) but my recent experiences are happening during the day time with all lights off.
