2002 Camaro Hatch Light Stays On Hi all, I’ve had a good look around the website before posting, but I’m not very technical when it comes to electrics and I'm not sure where to start. My 2002 has a trunk light on. It’s been on since I bought the car and there are no bulbs in the dome mirror so I’m guessing they’re on all the time. i’ve read about door pins being an issue, but apparently in the 2002 models they aren’t easy to spot, plus the hatch light should be leading me away from the door pins.
Where should I start? What should I be looking for at the trunk latch.

Which hatch light? The light above the rear seats or something else? That is tied to the doors and hatch. Open and re-close both doors and hatch. Do you see the "door open" or "latch open" light lit on the gauge cluster? That will indicate which is either not fully closed or the switch is faulty. The switch is part of the latch and not a separate plunger like on older cars. Any other electrical symptoms/issues? The "Theater Dimming" effect and Retained Accessory Power (RAP) timeout are controlled by the BCM so other odd issues could point there.
Also, a 2002 should have mirror lights. Are yours out/missing or do you have a mirror without any spots for bulbs?

One thing I run into all the time with customers complaining about their dome lights staying on is the dimmer switch being turned up all the way. This keeps the lights on at all times.
Are the lights staying on after the car is turned off? The BCM should time these out after like 10 or 20 minutes or so, even with the doors open.
