Question on BCM integration into LS swap
I have a 66 malibu running a 2008 Pontiac G8GT gen IV L76 LS2 and E38 Ecm and the matching 6L80E transmission, modded factory G8Gt harness. Its up and road worthy.
I am looking at integrating a factory BCM from another G8GT into the mix to facilitate my G8GT factory tap shifter and hopefully when I get that working I can implement backup lights, neutral safety switch and other nicety's.
I have all the GM wiring pinouts and I have a used BCM from another G8GT. I am sure I will be asking a thousand questions in trying to get this working.
first question :
there are 7 distinct plugs on the BCM when I am designing my adapter harness I see there are multiple inputs for CONSTANT, SWITCHED , RUN, CRANK 12 Volts. some of the plugs have things I am not interested in using like turn signal control, dome light and such and have no inputs or outputs I will need so my question is do I need to hot those up with the appropriate lines in or can I skip plug all together and only wire the power and grounds for the functions I need/want ?
I am not sure if each plug runs a dedicated/isolated set of circuitry for the functions that input/output set thru that plug or if they all converge into a bus inside the BCM.
Anybody have any input on this question?
My main function ids to get the BCM functioning to tell TCM to tap shift if I can achieve that I will be happy but the other things would be really nice but one function at a time.
I am familiar with electronics, networking, LanBus as well as soldering and testing/debug procedures just looking to simplify where I can.
I also have HP Tuners so I can tell it to ignore lots of error codes from things I don't have reporting back to the ECM.
