2000 camaro monsoon questions I just replaced all my speakers pretty much but I'm looking to get and new headunit as I heard it can improve sound aswell.
Now my question is I cut the crossover in the door speaker so it doesn't sound like trash and worked still got to do the other side but I guess my question is if I change the headunit will that speaker sound like trash now since we got rid of the crossover?
I'm not a sound guy at all so just curious.

Since there is no crossover in the factory Monsoon system (filtering is all done in the Monsoon amp), what exactly did you cut? Did you install coaxial speakers in the doors rather than component sets that would match the factory wiring? If so, did you cut the wires on the speakers between the connection terminals and the tweeter? Or did you buy component sets that came with their own crossover? There is no need for a crossover in a Monsoon system since the amp provides separate channels for woofer and tweeter in the doors (i.e. you'll find two pairs of wires in the doors - one pair for the woofer and the other pair for the tweeter).
In general, replacing the factory head unit with a decent aftermarket one (i.e. not Pyle, Boss, or other Walmart brands) will never make the sound worse. The biggest problem with the factory head unit is that it is a distortion producing machine and almost any replacement head unit will sound better because of less distortion. But you won't gain those sound improvements if the speakers are wrong or improperly wired.
